Whether you have diabetes or simply want to enjoy healthy eating, the Canadian Diabetes Association presents a 4 week hands-on cooking and nutrition program. Learn to select healthy foods, prepare nutritious meals and enjoy the results. Explore the first steps to turn your old recipes into healthy ones. Learn to read and interpret food labels through an off-site Save-On Foods Nutrition Tour. Use menu planning to achieve better health and plan mouth-watering meals.

Cost includes a workbook plus 3 delicious meals prepared by you.

How the Historic York Theater is Being Saved

Tom Durrie, founder and head of the Save the York Theater Task Force, will talk about recent successes in the 27-year campaign to save the 1913 theater at 639 Commercial Drive from demolition and restore its original appearance while furnishing it with modern equipment.

2nd Annual Eastside Family Place Silent Art Auction

The Eastside Family Place Society will be hosting our second annual Art Auction and Evening of Entertainment.
We are looking forward to another fun filled evening of food, entertainment and an opportunity to raise some much-needed funds through a silent Art Auction and raffle.
The artwork and raffle prizes have been generously donated by culture crawl artists and local businesses.

Tickets are $25 and include appetizers and a drink. They can be bought at Eastside Family Place, 1655 William St. next to Grandview Park.

Eastside Family Place is a support and resource centre with 29 years of service for parents and caregivers and their preschool children. In recent years there have been up to 16,000 recorded uses by families of our drop-in program alone. In order to respond to the needs of families in the Grandview/Woodland neighborhood, Eastside Family Place provides a minimum of sixteen different programs, supports and services.
